How
to Change Carburetor Jets |
| This how-to
is applicable to any Keihin 40mm CV carburetor, typically found
on 1984 to 1999 Harley Davidson Evolution motors (Softails, Dynas,
Sportsters, etc.). This schematic
diagram may also be helpful when working on your carburetor. |

Step
1:
Make sure the fuel petcock
is in the "off" position. Locate the float drain screw
and turn it counterclockwise. You may need to use a small stubby
screwdriver as pictured. Open the float drain screw to drain all
gas from the float bowl. |

Step
3:
Remove 2 float bowl
screws on the left side of the carburetor. On a stock carburetor,
these are brass phillips head screws, which are very easy to strip.
If you replace them with my carburetor
stainless allen screw kit, they look a lot nicer, and they're
a lot easier to remove and re-install with a 3mm hex key.
